4th Grade Self Portraits
Using right side of the brain drawing with contour lines, students studied and sketched their features for two - three classes, then learned how to place them proportionately to create a self portrait. Portraits were outlined with black sharpie to create contrast.

4th Grade Clay Slab Castles and Medieval Dragons
4th grade made a stop in Medieval times to learn about castle architecture. Did you know that the first castle was more like a fort and made out of wood?
In addition to castles, students created dragons featuring characteristics according to folklore passed around by medieval explorers.

4th Grade Flying Machines Inspired by Da Vinci
4th grade learned about famous artist, inventor, scientist, mathematician, and architect, Leonardo Da Vinci and focused on his flying machines. After sketching our own inventions that worked using simple machines, just like Da Vinci used, we transferred our 2-D ideas into sculptures. Using geometry and lots of folds, we created a cube or pyramid body completely attached to a pair of uniquely designed wings.
