2nd Grade practiced right side of the brain drawing of flowers in their sketchbooks. They chose their best sketch and enlarged it on black paper and then outlined it in glue. They then used warm & cool color schemes to blend their chalk pastels into their glued outlines.

2nd grade became familiar with two new sets of color schemes this year: warm and cool colors.  For their weaving projects, they were asked to choose their own color scheme and come up with an original title based on the colors they chose.

Students also practiced patterns that became an extra challenge when adding various objects to their weavings.

How can we use symmetry to design in art?

2nd grade is focusing on symmetrical shapes in math class so I thought symmetrical snowflakes would be an excellent rein forcer. We are also working with our local supermarket, Kennies, to design winter themed bags to give out during this holiday season.
